Wonder what it’s like channeling the angels for a celebrity, or even for a princess? We speak to three experts who reveal what it’s really like
Words: Claire Munnings
There’s something about celebrities that makes us curious. Whether we’re considering how different their lives are from our own, or thinking about the ways they’re just like us – it seems we can’t get enough. But, for many spiritual experts, working with celebrities is just like with any regular person – we’re all human with our own issues, after all. And to the angels, anyone and everyone can benefit from their guidance. To find out more, I spoke to three angel channelers about the people they’ve had the honour of working with.
Stewart Pearce talks about channeling for Princess Diana
International voice coach and angelic emissary Stewart Pearce has worked with all sorts of well-known figures – from Margaret Thatcher and Hugh Bonneville to Eddie Redmayne and Marianne Williamson – but he says his most memorable client was Princess Diana. Here, he tells us just how incredible it was to spend time with the ‘Queen of People’s Hearts’.
“I’ve never seen a difference between my voice work and my angelic work. Fundamentally, both aspects involve looking into the creative energy of my soul and allowing its wisdom to be useful for people. But the world is divisive. You can’t walk into Downing Street saying: “Hi! I see angels” and so I learned that when in Rome, do as the Romans do. With many of my clients this means that there is a part of me that I externally redact – although I’m still completely open inside – as many people aren’t open to the supernatural world of the angels.
“Diana was different though. I first met her in the 1990s through Mara Berni who owned the San Lorenzo restaurant in Knightsbridge. She kept telling me that I really ought to work with Diana and yet I had reservations. It’s not that I wasn’t honoured by the notion, but rather there was a huge media circus surrounding the princess and Diana had been betrayed to the press by a number of therapists. Yet Mara invited me to lunch, and when I walked into the room, there was Diana. As soon as I sat down she grabbed hold of my arm and said: “You will work with me, won’t you?” Well, what do you say to that? Diana was heavenly, literally extraordinary – I’ve never met anyone like her. She was of course beautiful, but also very child-like and innocent, with great fun, and I immediately saw that I could help.
“Before me, she’d worked with lots of people, including psychics, mediums and complementary healing practitioners, so she was very open to ideas. I remember telling her continuously that she had several angels standing beside her and she was in rapture. Fundamentally, Diana was interested in anything that would help support her in a place of purity and love. I helped her create a shield of protection for her empathy, made of gold light. I told her that whatever she went into she was never alone – she had the angels and other spirit guardians supporting her. Diana felt Mary with her a tremendous amount and this was particularly awakened by her connection with Mother Theresa.
“I felt so many angels working alongside her, such as Archangel Gabriel, who was key as messenger for Diana, who was also a messenger. At that time she was really beginning to shape what her message was. Archangel Michael was also important – he is the cosmic leader and Diana really needed to discover her sovereignty from an archetypal point of view.
“She had such angelic qualities herself, and many felt they were being touched by an angel when they held her hand. Today, I believe she’s still with us as an Angel of Vast Luminosity. I feel Diana present, helping with the rise of the divine feminine, assisting us in the current revolution of the empaths.”
Claire Stone mingles with a host of angelic stars
As a teenager, angel channeler Claire Stone would do tarot readings in her bedroom for her friends. But a lot has changed since then and she now counts high-profile celebs among her clients, including the stars of Geordie Shore, TOWIE, the Real Housewives of Cheshire and numerous TV personalities.
“Many of the well-known people I read for first heard about me after my TV appearance on the Real Housewives of Cheshire. I’d never watched it before but there was some synchronicity lining up before I got the call from the show’s producers. Just that week, one of my friends had said to me: ‘Tanya Bardsley would love you’.
“The first time I went on it was at Tanya’s house and Lauren Simon was there. I was so nervous, I didn’t sleep the night before. It went really well though – and I ended up being on the show about five or six times.
“Since then, I’ve read for the likes of TV presenter Lizzy Cundy, Coronation Street actress Faye Brookes and Dani Dyer. When I did Dani, I also met Jack Fincham who was her boyfriend at the time.
“One of my party tricks is being able to change my face so that another face comes over mine – it’s like transgression but it’s not another spirit coming into my body, it’s me showing who I was in a past life. I’ll never forget when I did it for Jack – he was sitting on an office-type chair with wheels and he was so shocked he flew back across the room on it!
“The number one reason celebs come to me is because they want to know about their career – which makes sense because they’re all very driven people. You don’t get handed your success on a plate – it takes dedication and constant hustle. Often they just want reassurance with the path they’re on, or guidance with big life changes.
“A few years ago I gave Lisa Appleton a reading which I’ll always remember. At the time, she was a little bit down on her luck and had asked to have a healing and a reading session. I don’t usually do spirit readings, but sometimes someone wants to come through and the angels bring them. On this day, Lisa’s nan came through and I was struck by this overwhelming smell of hairspray. I asked Lisa if her nan used to wear a lot of hairspray and she burst out laughing and said yes. I then asked for some proof from her nan to share with Lisa and she gave me an old fashioned jewellery box with a ballerina in it. Once I told Lisa this, again she started laughing and said her nan had given both her and her sister one when they were quite little.
“As we moved along in the reading, her guardian angel gave me a vision of her in LA in a convertible car with a scarf around her neck. Lisa was really excited by this idea, but she had no work lined up at that point and no prospect of going to America. Some time later, though, she got a phone call with an invite to a TV show in LA.
“When she got there she said they’d sent her a convertible to drive her! Normally it’s spirit that gives visions like that, but that was what she needed then and the angels were there to give her hope.
“I never get star struck as I see every single person as a spiritual being and special, although I do get a bit nervous appearing in front of the cameras – especially if it’s live. Last year, when I was waiting in the studio to go on TV show Steph’s Packed Lunch, the spirit of my late mum came through and said to me: ‘Shine bright like a diamond’ and that got to me. I know she’s proud of where I am and I just feel like I’m doing what I love.”
Claire’s new podcast Celeb Angel Conversations will be launched on 21st March, with Tanya Bardsley as her first guest. Her book, The Female Archangels: Reclaim Your Power with the Lost Teachings of the Divine Feminine (£12.99, Hay House) is also available now. Find out more at clairestone.co.uk.
Victoria Mary Clarke angel channels and paints for musical royality
Being married to the lead singer of The Pogues, angel channeler Victoria Mary Clarke is used to mixing with well-known names – and she’s honoured that many of them have supported her work from the start. She tells us more about painting for the stars…
“I began touring with Shane and The Pogues when I was in my early 20s. At this point his career was really taking off – he had a big hit with Fairytale of New York and they were the band of the moment. We travelled all over the world but I always felt really insignificant and was looking for some kind of path of my own. So, I did a lot of seeking and searching and went to palm readers, fortune tellers, tarot readers and all sorts. Eventually I met Lita de Alberdi who founded the School of the Living Light, and I went to her for an angel channeling session. What struck me the most wasn’t what she said, but the feeling I got when the archangels came through. It was like being physically hit by a wave of love that was so strong it completely knocked me sideways.
“She began to teach me how to channel angels myself but I wasn’t sure what to do with it at first. Donovan (of Mellow Yellow fame) and his wife are old friends of ours and very supportive of my work (in fact, when I did my first public event for the millennium, he was my opening act). He said to me: “It’s all very well that you’re channeling these beings, but what are you going to do with it? What’s it actually for?” That was an important question and so I began to do it for others to see if I could help them.
“I did it for all our friends – and because Shane is in the music industry, it happens that a lot of our friends are well-known. It never really occurred to me that they were famous at the time – they were just our friends.
“I did it for Shane and others including Nick Cave and Sinead O’Connor. She was one of the easiest people to channel for as she’s such a beautiful and pure soul. It was startling – I actually saw stars around her head and a blue light around her.
“After my book was published, more people began to respond – and Marian Keyes happened to be one of these people. She was writing for the same newspaper as me and wanted to have an angel session as she suffered a lot from anxiety and depression, and wanted to be uplifted.
“I had also suffered with this – so I knew what she was feeling. I channelled the angels for her and they guided her to a place where she felt very safe. In her book she said that it was the most loved and cherished that she’d ever felt. She wrote: ‘I remembered all the good things I’d already known but had managed to forget and I felt better than I had in ages – safe and cherished, restored to myself: happy to be the person living my life.’
“I was inspired to start painting angels a few years ago. The angels suggested that I should make the images into garments too, like scarves, and I did. Johnny Depp has worn my scarves, and Imelda May looks gorgeous in them too.
“Nick Cave has my Amorratrea picture at home, and has asked for some scarves to hang on the wall. Bono also really likes my angel paintings and he’s got one. The angels have helped me enormously. I feel like my work gives me a sense of self-esteem I never had. It’s been great being able to do things for my friends, too. It’s a very special gift.”
