Our Top 5 October Spiritual Essentials

Whether you’re celebrating a birthday this month (we’re looking at you, Libra and Scorpio babies), ringing in a new year with Samhain or simply celebrating Halloween, the month of October brings about many opportunities. We show you our seasonal favourites to help you see in the tenth month in spiritual style.
1 Embrace Crystals
Opal is synonymous with October as one of the birthstones for the month, and a great stone to add to your collection. Opal endows mystery and charisma, and increases attraction so remember to keep a piece of it in your pocket if you want to lose your inhibitions. Tourmaline is an alternative crystal for the month of October and a piece of Black Tourmaline soothes panic attacks, especially those caused by dark or confined spaces, or in places where the atmosphere is frightening − perfect for all of the supernatural goings on that may be occurring over the next few weeks.
2 Enjoy Scents
There’s nothing we love more than filling our home with a warm and comforting aroma that spreads through the air, so here’s our top scents you need for October to invoke, invite and enchant. Cinnamon for example is often traditionally associated with the autumnal months, but did you know that when burnt as an incense, it can raise spiritual vibrations, stimulate psychic powers and produce protective barriers. Burn cloves to prevent gossip as well as bring about a sense of kinship at social gatherings – whether that be Halloween, a birthday or Samhain.
3 Harvest
This time of year brings about many natural wonders that you can harvest for spells, potions and various other spiritual purposes. Pine cones have long served as a symbolic representation of the third eye chakra, due to its resemblance to the pineal gland. By arranging a quaint display of pine cones in your home alongside pine leaves this month, you will help enhance clairvoyance and bring good fortune.
4 Eat Well…
Nothing symbolises autumn better than comforting food that not only warms you up but also nourishes the soul. Foods to include in your diet this time of year include apples which are harnessed during Mabon and Samhain for love spells, and pumpkins. Pumpkins are the universally recognised symbol for Halloween but they also taste delicious. We suggest roasting pumpkin seeds and sprinkling with cardamom for a tasty snack − cardamom in love spells can enhance attractiveness to the opposite sex.
5 … And Drink Better
Turn your kitchen into a spiritual apothecary this month as you set about brewing a selection of delicious drinks that pack a powerful kick. Middle Eastern tradition calls for coffee to be finished off with a pinch of cumin for a spicy, peppery note. Cumin offers protection from unwanted spirits, as well as promote fidelity in relationships. And once finished, be sure to conduct a quick coffee reading – an ancient form of divination that allows the reader to interpret patterns left behind. If you fancy something a little bit stronger, why not make Glögg? A Nordic version of mulled wine served during the colder months, it’s jammed packed with a plethora of spices including root ginger (which protects from bad dreams), star anise (to bring good luck in love and money) and nutmeg (which if drank before meditation can enhance clear sight and encourage visions). Bottoms up!
