#1 Wanderlust Festival
This festival gets my number 1 spot because it is a one-stop-soul-stop for any level of soul searcher. Try your hand at different styles of yoga, from beginner to expert level; experience the mindful market and eat organic and local produce; get a download of wisdom from a speakeasy lecture; rock out at night to international artists. I took on everything from a hula-hoop dance class to a crystal and gemstone workshop. It is a safe space for any festival goer no matter where they sit on the spiritual wu-wu scale. There’s something for the spiritual amateur right up to the full blown yogi-head-stand-while-chewing-on-chia-seeds-and-radiating-white-light spiritualist. All welcome, and the theme is find your true north! Where all our spiritual compasses should be set to.
You can find Wanderlust Festival’s throughout America, Australia and New Zealand. For more information, go to Wanderlust.com
#2 Holi Festival
Clean freak? Erm, then this might not be the experience your soul craves. Think of Holi Festival as a colour explosion…in your face. This gets my tick from a spiritual view because it encompasses love, spring and religion. Also known as the festival of colors, the ancient Hindu religious festival has become popular with non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia and increasingly across the Western world, bridging spiritual festivals with main-stream culture. The festival is all about expression, community and new beginnings – everything a soul search should be made up of!

Seated in the spot of Elizabeth’s Gilbert reinvention from Eat, Pray, Love, the Bali Spirit Festival is held in Udbud, Bali, and is an energy-charged event that will be sure to spark your soul! Everything holistic living is covered in this festival including, music, yoga, health, well-being, eco and social change – all elements you need to learn, grow and develop a holistic lifestyle.
Set by day on lush terraced lawns with open pavilions, the party moves by night to an outdoor stage for a world music concert like no other on Earth.

#4 Burning Man
Hosted in Black Rock Desert, Nevada, and sparked from setting alight ‘the man’ (a large wooden effigy), the festival is the largest ‘experiment’ in the community. It brings together artists, expressionists and extroverts for a week-long annual festival that showcase the arts, speakers, musicians and all elements of radical culture. Leave your comfort zone behind and prepare for a serious week of liberation and self-discovery.

Dust of your Wellington boots and prepare yourself for a baptism of mud, music and mayhem. While Glastonbury may not present itself as a ‘spiritual festival’, consider it a modern day Woodstock that relives the farm, rain and free-spirited nature of the 60s, today. This festival should be considered a right of passage and with headline acts that will satisfy the youngest to the oldest of souls including Foo Fighters and Lionel Ritchie, I rest my case, there is something for everyone!

Less of a festival and more of gatherings, TEDtalks are all themed around inspiration, motivation, over coming the odds and conquering challenges and often have underlying spiritual messages. For example, I went to one last year in New Zealand called Ascending, point made. If you cannot make a TED event, I highly recommend watching some of their talks online or streaming into one of their events live. Your soul will be given a slap in the face with some serious light bulb moments, guaranteed.
