“I was sitting in an airport, waiting to board a plane, when I had an overwhelming urge to give my earrings to the woman sitting next to me. It was such a strong feeling that I didn’t question it. I liked my earrings but wasn’t particularly attached to them and so I took them off and handed the bemused stranger. I explained to her that I didn’t quite know why I was giving them to her but I just felt it was the right thing to do. I felt as if they belonged to her. When I told her this, the grateful lady welled up with emotion and started crying. She told me that her mother had given her a pair of earrings exactly like mine but that she had lost them. When she had sat next to me she had noticed them straight away and it had made her think of her mother. We were both overwhelmed.”

 

Strange coincidence

Most people would say that this strange interaction was due to coincidence, a one-­in‐a­‐million chance. But this woman’s story is an example of what happens when we listen to, and act on, the messages that we pick up through our energy frequencies. Neither of these women acted consciously: the message was exchanged between them energetically.

 

Personal frequency

Energy is all around you all of the time. You can’t see it but right now, this very second, you are surrounded by invisible communication channels. And just as you have your own phone number, passport number and DNA fingerprint, so you have an energetic frequency that distinguishes you from other people, and this creates a worldwide web of energy between you and everyone else, and even between you and objects. So, whilst you pick up messages from people through their words and actions, more importantly, you also send and receive information through your energy.

 

Same wavelength 

Phrases such as ‘we’re on the same wavelength’, ‘you’re so in tune with each other’, ‘the atmosphere was  electric’, ‘he sent shivers down my spine’, ‘they got a good feeling about it’ or ‘I feel that we’re in sync’ all describe the innate gift each of us has to communicate energetically. We often call this intuition or gut instinct. You use your own energetic gift all of the time, even if you’re not aware of it. What you may also not be aware of right now is that you have a choice over whether or not to connect to a particular energy. You can choose to receive the energies that are right for you and protect yourself against frequencies that are negative for you, and you can also choose what you send out to others to attract things that will make your life happy and nourishing.
