Meditation is one of the best activities for us to calm and relax our mind, body and soul, but what else can we do to switch off? Try these easy activities to beat the blues while we’re social distancing…
1. Looking at photos
Photo challenges on social media are one of many lockdown challenges taking hold during recent weeks. From sharing travel memories to moments with loved ones and throwback photos, we’re all posting pictures that are important to us to keep us entertained. New research from CEWE Photoworld has suggested that looking back over old photos has a positive impact on our wellbeing, too, dramatically improving our mood. So, next time the current situation gets to you, dig out the photo albums or scroll through old pics on your phone for a guaranteed nostalgic boost!
2. Having a long soak in the bath
Hopefully, everyone showers everyday, but how often do you allow yourself an indulgent soak in the bath? Not often enough, until the recent ‘stay home’ policy was thrust upon you if you’re anything like us. Seven weeks in, our baths have now upgraded into full on spa experiences: complete with full kit. Now including: an array of candles, aromatherapy oils, and a CD of comforting sounds to name a few. We’ve also stocked up on the best in natural bathing: including the luxury Tropic Tahitian Vanilla and Coconut Bath Foam, ishga Hebridean Dreams Hand Poured Seaweed Candle, and BioMiracle Unicorn Glitter Dust Peel Off Mask Treatment for when we REALLY need a pick-me-up.
3. Doing exercise
Now that from this week, the rules in England and Scotland are changing to being allowed outside to exercise more than once a day, we officially no longer have an excuse to get out of it. On the plus side, it’s proven to release positive endorphins lifting our mood, which has got to be a good thing. It looks like outdoor yoga may be back on the agenda too, which we can definitely get on board with! Try adding this yoga pose in your routine for even more positive energy.
4. Listen to podcasts
Escaping from the constant headlines is a must to give our souls a boost right now, so why not swap the daily briefings for a new podcast instead? Not only will these transport you away from the current goings on, but you’ll learn something new, too! Our current favourites include Keep It Spiritual from Kris Meredith and the Psychic Today podcast. What are you loving at the moment? Let us know on Facebook.
