Crystal and animal expert Maureen Rolls answers your questions on holistic pet healing…
Q: My cat keeps walking into objects and injuring himself – his walking seems really off balance and disorientated – what should I do and are there crystals that can help?
From what you are describing, your cat has experienced something traumatic, or there is some electromagnetic smog that is affecting your cat, which has unbalanced its energy, making it hard for your moggy to co-ordinate properly. There are a few crystals that can help with this. Fire Agate helps develop a deep connection to the Earth and its energies, and will bring your cat’s energy back into its body to help it coordinate as it should, Fire Agate also has a strong protective function, building a protective shield around the body of your cat. Smoky Quartz is one of the most efficient grounding and anchoring crystals. While gently neutralising negative vibrations, it also blocks geopathic stress and absorbs electromagnetic smog that emanates from some of the electrical apparatus that is in our homes, bringing a positive vibration to fill the space. You can buy both crystals in tumblestone form in various sizes to suit your cat.
Q: I want to try and introduce my cat to crystal healing but I am not sure how – how do I know if he likes it, and what signs do I need to look out for if he doesn’t?
What a lovely owner you are, ensuring you do what is right for your cat and in the correct way! First, you should read up on crystals and find out which ones match up with what your cat may need. There are several books on crystals with references to conditions that your cat may indicate or need help with physically or mentally, but be aware that some crystals in their raw state can be poisonous to your cat. When you find the crystals that you want to use, ensure that you cleanse them before you use them. You could always try smudging your crystals to cleanse them. Next, sit on the floor and put the crystals around you. Let your cat come to you to investigate which crystals it wants to have healing from. Most animals will self-select to self-heal if we give them the opportunity to. If your cat does not want a crystal, it will ignore it.
Q: My dog, who is usually very vocal, has been very quiet over the last week. He just tends to sit quietly in a corner of the room and has stopped barking and wagging his tail. Can I use crystal healing on him?
It sounds as if your dog is fearful of something and is responding by sitting and staying in one place. He is trying to tell you that he is frightened. There are some crystals that will help him to cope with being less fearful. Charoite is the stone of transformation that aids in coping and overcoming deep fears. It also transmutes negative energy (fear) into healing, and converts the energy into re-energising the body. Citrine will help to energise the physical body and help to release any negative energies that are being held within. The stone is a powerful cleanser and regenerator, and is said to carry the power of the sun. It energises on every level of life and acts as an aura protector, this means your dog will be able to cope better with whatever is frightening him. You can use one or both of these crystals in tumblestone form in various sizes to help your dog overcome his fear. Place the crystals close to his bed and things should start to improve.
Q: My bunny loves crystals and keeps licking and rubbing his chin on them whenever I meditate and he finds them on the floor near me. How can I use crystals on him to keep him happy and healthy?
How wonderful that your bunny is self-selecting the crystals and self-healing with the energy of the stones you are using! Just a word of caution – some crystals can be harmful to animals if still in their raw rather than tumbled state, so please read up on the crystals you are using to ensure they are safe for your bunny. Quartz is definitely a safe crystal to use for your pet. With its healing properties and energy amplifying properties, it is believed to be the most powerful crystal on the planet because of its helical spiral crystalline form. This crystal works on a vibrational level, and will attune itself to your rabbit’s specific needs. Rose Quartz is the crystal of unconditional love and opens the heart chakra to bring in deep inner cleansing and healing at all levels – this will also be beneficial.
