Here’s Maureen Rolls’ eight-step guide to giving your furry friend Reiki treatment
Pet energy is said to be your pet’s ‘soul’. It consists of vibrations that the physical body emits, and sometimes it can, like our own energy, feel a little unbalanced. With the help of animal communicator Maureen Rolls, here’s an easy eight-step masterclass in giving your pet the healing they need when they aren’t quite feeling themselves…
1 Noticed a change?
Since animals can’t talk, we need to make sure we’re in-tune with them and be aware of subtle alterations in their behaviour. Before undertaking any Reiki healing on your pet, it is important to identify any changes in their behaviour or habits. Have they changed temperament? Are they eating? Do they seem more anxious, nervous or lethargic, or unconcerned with your presence. Are they licking themselves more than they usually do? It could be that they are not feeling well.
2 Understand the healing process
“We are all healers,” says Maureen. “You can heal your own pet, but it is important to remember that you are but a tool in the healing process. The powers that be channel the energy through you to your pet. This angelic realm energy enters your crown chakra and is delivered to your pet by coming through the palms of your hands. Remember that the healing energy you have coming through you will differ depending on the pet and problem you are treating, as all animals are different. Keep in mind that the angels will ensure that the correct energy for your pet is guided through you.”
3 Ask for angelic protection
“You need to be protected before undertaking any spiritual healing,” says Maureen. “This can be done by asking the angels to put protection around you in a form of white light that completely engulfs you. It is believed that you may not be able to see this with your physical eyes, but you will need to visualise it and transfer the light from your mind’s eye to the area surrounding your pet. When you are both protected, you can start the healing process.
4 Small or large?
Different healing methods and amounts of energy work on different pets. When working on small animals (mice, hamsters, guinea pigs and birds, for example), just cup your hands gently around their bodies, without adding any pressure. Allow your pet to be surrounded in Reiki energy within your cupped hands. The larger the animal you’re working with, such as a horse or dog, the more positions you may need to try and the longer you will need to practise healing so your animal receives a healthy dose of energy. If you are treating a creature that is considered poisonous, wild or dangerous, such as a tarantula, it may be best to treat them by distant techniques.
5 Begin the healing process
Approach any injured or sick animal with caution and love. Move towards an animal slowly, and pet the animal gently. Pay attention to any sensitivity they seem to be experiencing. When applying Reiki animal healing, lay your hands ever-so gently on the area you wish to heal. Try to think of the cause of the animal’s discomfort. Keep your hands just off the surface of their body. Even if your hands are several inches above their fur, they will still feel your energy. Stay in this position for several minutes. Repeat the process several times in a day, until your pet seems to be back to their normal routine and behaviour. Bear in mind that animals seem to take longer to respond to energy treatments than humans.
6 Monitor your pet’s reaction
Your animal should accept the healing process and you should see them relaxing and accepting, licking and looking at the area/energy centre you are healing and re-balancing. This will show that your pet is receiving the healing energy. Some animals will rotate to give you the area of their body that they want healing to go to. Remember that all animals will react differently.
7 Know when to stop
Your pet will let you know when to stop, as they will walk away from you or try to get away from your hands. Alternatively, with angelic guidance, it may feel just right to stop healing. Be aware that all animals react differently to treatment and may have a reaction over the next day or so. They may, for instance, drink lots of water to cleanse their body of negativity.
Most temperament and behavioural problems can be healed with energy healing. Fuss and cuddle your pet after the healing process so they know they are loved and surrounded with positive vibrations.
Always consult a veterinary practitioner before practising Reiki healing on your pet.
