Journey to Avalon and meet the fairies of Glastonbury Tor

Come on a journey and ask the fairy king a question, with elemental expert Karen Kay

Most people associate Avalon with goddesses and all things mystical. But did you know that there are stories of fairies living inside Avalon in Glastonbury Tor? Avalon has been claimed in other locations, but this time I’m talking about Glastonbury in Somerset, UK, where the fairy king lives!

Take a trip to Avalon

When I first started organising angel and fairy events back in the mid 1990s, my heart was always pulled towards Avalon. I could feel and sense a strong fairy presence there, especially around the Tor, or more specifically, inside the Tor. My first fairy event It was in Glastonbury (Avalon) in 2009, I remember it very well. “A day and night of Fairy Delight!” The people of Glastonbury were so welcoming to the humans who loved fairies and so a twice-yearly tradition was born. The event grew into a weekend event with a fairy market during the daytime, with workshops, including my Oracle
of the Fairies card launch and celebrated artists such as Brian and Wendy Froud (the concept designers for movies such as Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal).

There was also the magical Fairy Ball held on the Saturday evening, with live music and outfits that made everyone look as if they had stepped out of fairyland! Over the years various themes developed, so people could express their inner fairy. Avalon was, and still is, the perfect place to hold these parties. I was very blessed to have been able to host an event there in March 2020, a few weeks before the first UK lockdown, and I’m intending to host another event there later in 2021, all being well!

1 Light a white candle for protection and purity. Burn some incense for the
fairies, close your eyes and take in three breaths. Breathe in peace and love and exhale any cares and concerns.

2 Visualise standing at the foot of Glastonbury Tor, you notice a spiral
pathway leading to the top. Set your intentions by saying, “Fairies of
Avalon, please grant me permission to meet with you and the fairy king of
the Tor, Gwyn ap Nudd.”

3 Seven tiny different coloured lights appear, bright and vibrant! They fly
around your head then towards the path. You know they wish for you to
follow, so you start to walk upwards.

4 You reach St Michael’s Tower through an archway. A portal of golden light appears at your feet. You step into it, float down and find yourself in front of a golden throne.

5 The seven fairy lights are still with you, protecting and guiding you on
the journey. You request, “Fairy King, may I meet with you?” Wait for to
receive an answer. If it is ‘no’ or ‘not yet ‘you will be guided back. If you
receive a ‘yes’ then continue.

6 Place your hands on your heart and greet the fairy king. If you have
a question, ask him. The answer may come now, in the following days
or not at all.

7 Give thanks and the fairy lights will guide you back. Open your eyes.
