How to remember dreams

Learning how to remember dreams is a skill you have to practise again and again in order to get better! We’ve tracked down six simple steps to teach you how to remember dreams and ensure you learn the most from your night time visions.
- Say to yourself ‘I want to remember my dream tonight to learn more about myself’ once you’ve got into bed and are preparing to fall asleep. Voicing this wish will make your subconscious aware that it’s got a task to do overnight, and the more you do this, the easier it will be for that part of your brain to pick up how to remember dreams you have when visiting slumberland.
- Keep a dream journal and pen by your bed to write down what you can remember the moment you wake. Don’t get out of bed or think of anything else until you’ve committed those adventures to paper.
- Write down all the sensory experiences of the dream, such as colours, music, smells and the emotional tone of the dream. This will bring back the experience more vividly.
- Keep quartz by your bed – it will help you expand your mind and touch the spirit world.
- Set up a regular sleep routine, which will trigger your body and mind to the fact that it’s got to remember dreams overnight.
- If you’re still having trouble with how to remember dreams and your mind draws a blank as you drift awake, try setting an alarm clock for a few hours before you naturally wake up – this should startle you bolt upright mid dream and make recalling it much easier!
Sweet dreaming!
