Lillyanne reminds us of our miracle roots and the magic of Mother Nature
Today, I want to tell you the story of the most amazing, resilient, and creative people on the planet. It’s the story of you and me, of the whole human race, and it starts twelve thousand years ago.
Discover our divine shared experience
You see, for most of human history, we had to eke out whatever existence we could by hunting and foraging. We were constantly on the move in search of shelter and our next meal. At the time our story begins, though, something transformative was about to happen.
The last great Ice Age was coming to an end. The glaciers retreated and the sea levels started to rise, causing serious global flooding. Have you ever wondered why almost every culture on Earth has a story of a great ancient flood? It comes from this part of our ancestral history.
Recall Earth’s gifts
When the Earth stabilised again, the human experience had changed into something godly. The great river valleys of the ancient world brought forth rich wheat and grains. For the first time, we could settle next to abundant food sources. Mineral deposits, carried down from the mountains on the floodwaters, had given the soil enough nutrients that it could flourish like never before.
To the ancients, this was a blessing beyond all blessings. They had enough food for the winter and could plant and grow more in the warmer months, so they started to settle. Buildings turned to cities and lively, prosperous communities appeared in
a way they never could have before.
Praise nature’s blessings
Above all, they were grateful for the bounties of the Earth, and when they built the first storehouses to contain their abundance, they dedicated those storehouses to the Goddess who stood with them at the dawn of time, and who nurtured and watched over us as we took our first steps onto history’s page.
They carried those blessings forward and taught other ancient peoples how to build civilisation, how to provide for all our people, and of the love and passion of the Goddess who stood with them as they did so. That’s why every spring, as the first shoots of new life appeared upon the Earth, feasts and festivals took place and celebrated the goddess energy that was abundant around them. They were excited about the year to come, rather than fear as they had been before.
Every spring, I can’t help but look around me at the complexity of the world, both natural and human-made, and be awed by the story that led us here. It makes me feel humbled and grateful to be here, but at the same time excited by all the possibilities that new growth brings.
Praise the goddess within you
This spring, I’m asking you to look for the goddess energy all around you, in nature and your own heart. I’m asking you to love the blessings of the Earth and every natural element and essence that went into making them flourish. Ask yourself how this goddess energy can also serve you and transform your life for the better.
