Supercharge your workplace wisdom by unlocking the special power of crystals
Words: Louise Pyne
As we (hopefully) near the end of the pandemic and life starts to open up, now more than ever we’re re-evaluating our careers. Whether you’ve been furloughed for months, have spent the last year working from home or were sadly made redundant, the consequences of multiple lockdowns have forced many of us to reconsider our workplace role.
Co-create with crystals
Interestingly, according to one study by online career platform Total Jobs (totaljobs.com), seven in ten of us are more likely to consider working in a different industry as a result of the coronavirus crisis. So if you’re thinking of making the switch, crystals could help you to get the most out of your move.
“Crystals are like humans – their characteristics are made up of many different facets. Although inorganic they have pervasive influences with electromagnetic energies. The vibrations in crystals can be felt when held close and their wisdom heard, so they are communicating with us! They imbue positive energy and release negative energy so we can co-create with them,” explains psychic spiritual medium and crystal healer Kim Alexis (kimalexispsychic.co.uk). Here we share how to use the power of these sparkly gems to move your way up the career ladder with success.
Ground yourself with jasper
Can’t seem to maintain focus or motivation to meet your deadlines? Ground yourself with red jasper. “If your head is in the clouds, this crystal helps you to be disciplined in your work, even if the creative spark is lacking, and it helps to bring back self-mastery,” says Kim. Carry the crystal in your pocket or handbag or even put a small tumble stone in your bra or on a chain or ribbon to wear.
Unlock your inner strength
Taking the plunge to dive into a new career requires a great deal of courage and bloodstone, garnet and agate are the crystals you need to unleash that courage. Kim says, “Bloodstone gives strength of mind and purpose with passion. Garnet allows us the courage to receive, to strike out for what we really want to achieve, and agate assists with financial security and business acumen.” Wear a bloodstone pendant that rests on the heart chakra and carry garnet in your purse or wear as a ring.
Find harmony with tourmaline
If you’re due to head back to your workplace after more than a year of working from home, you might feel anxious and nervous – especially if you have difficult colleagues to contend with once more. “Black tourmaline is really helpful for those who experience high levels of busy-ness and worry. This is a crystal that will keep your aura clear and balanced. Smokey quartz also offers protection from negative energies. It purges the atmosphere of any unspoken words between colleagues, creating harmony,” says Kim. Place these crystals around your workspace to purify negative energy. The soothing and calming vibrations will ease any tensions.
Boost your confidence
Your confidence levels affect how well you perform at work, but if you’re struggling to push yourself out of your comfort zone, vibrant citrine or golden pyrite could be the gemstones to give you the pep you need. “Citrine is a solar plexus stone, which can help to get rid of butterflies or feelings of worry, while pyrite is a golden mineral which inspires confidence and a can-do attitude,” believes Kim.
Place citrine in your drinking water to provide you with energy and healing, and meditate with pyrite, while visualising yourself as the best version of you.
Set a career intention
1 Prepare your crystals
Cleanse the crystal first by using sound, for example Tibetan chimes or singing bowls.
2 Harness the power of the elements
Run your crystals under tap water or leave in a bowl of Himalayan salts, in moonlight or sunlight – not too long in the sun as some quartz crystals like amethyst and rose quartz will fade.
3 Set your intention
Hold the crystal in both hands and ask that its qualities come to the fore, then make the intention that it be used for your highest good in the career you desire.
3 crystals for job search success
Clive Carter, crystal expert and owner of Natures Treasures and Blackfoot Gifts of Shaftesbury, says: “If you feel it’s time to step things up a little in life by looking for a career change, then here are a few crystal suggestions to help you on your quest.
Be calm with agate
“First you need to be in the right frame of mind to start looking, so a nice piece of blue lace agate will calm and soothe you. Try to use a large pebble or heart, something smooth, which you can use to gently massage your body or even just hold it on your temples for a short while. This will soon have you relaxed and in a better place to start your job search.
Make it count with citrine
“To ensure you get the job you want use a good cluster of citrine, known for centuries as the merchant’s stone as it was believed to get ancient traders the best deals for their goods. In your case, it will help you get the best deal for yourself in your new job. This cluster needs to be kept in a prominent position on your desk, so that every time you see it, it reminds you clearly what you want from your career.
Try labradorite for luck
“The third crystal you should try brings luck and good fortune – this is labradorite. Often recognised as a great protection stone, labradorite offers a whole lot more than protection. Its stunning colours are believed to harness the energies of both the sun and the moon. Labradorite is great for helping you to believe in yourself and help you become successful in life; it’s also a great stone to bring about change.”
