Learn to be present and embrace the little joys in life with psychic medium Lillyanne
Like so many people around the world, I was enchanted by the concept of hygge which has come to the forefront of public consciousness in the past few years. Many of you will have heard of this quintessentially Danish approach to life, which at its core is about enjoying life’s little gifts and small blessings wherever we may find them.
Find your spiritually special moments
Culturally, the Danes understand hygge as a reaction to the cold days and long nights that start drawing in at this time of year. They refuse to let the weather get them down, but instead seek comfort and contentedness in each of life’s
So, what exactly is hygge? It’s not something you can buy, it’s not an aesthetic you can pick off the shelf, but it’s those special, cosy moments when life aligns just right. For some, it might be a cup of your favourite tea, or a warm blanket and a good book, or the company and laughter of friends and loved ones. Everyone’s hygge is different, but it’s most often defined as a moment that warms your heart even on the coldest day, and one you should always savour.
Hygge is also, at its core, a deeply spiritual concept. It teaches us that there is comfort and wonder to be found in the most mundane daily activities, and that every day can be a little more special if only we seek to make it so.
Through embracing hygge in our own lives, it also teaches each one of us that you deserve to break up the monotony and stress by claiming moments for yourself. You deserve that warmth and satisfaction that comes with taking a moment out of your day to marvel at small miracles, and sharing them with your loved ones.
Live, breathe and love hygge
I’ve personally found that working with the concept of hygge has helped me to slow down, take a moment when I need to, and fully immerse myself in the present. It teaches me to be grateful for every small moment that helps me to create a precious memory with someone I love, marvel at a sunset or the sights of nature, or treat myself at the end of a long day.
It also helps me to breathe deeply and think about the goals that I set for myself. Could I benefit from slowing down and taking each step towards my goal one at a time? Often, the answer is yes, and thinking through the lens of hygge helps me to appreciate each small step that takes me towards my goal, each learning experience, each moment that allows me to grow in my life’s purpose and calling.
That’s why my challenge for you this month is to have a little more hygge in your life. Set positive, life-affirming goals, and plan how you want to reach them. Make a point of taking in and appreciating those unique, special moments in your life that warm your heart. Perhaps, most importantly, make room for little acts of self-care. You deserve it!
