Easy Crafting: Make An Angel Wreath

Welcome in the angels with this ethereal decoration for your home…
Traditionally symbolic of angels, white feathers are a great motif to add to your home – and great for turning your abode from earthly to heavenly. Why not make additional wreaths in colours symbolic of the archangels and place them in each room of your home for everlasting protection?
You will need:
• Polystyrene ring, flatbacked
• Stretch white faux fur
• White marabou feathers, approximately 400
1 Cut a 10cm strip of faux fur and wrap around the polystyrene ring, stretching it as you do so to cover the wreath snugly. Secure the ends with a few stitches at the back.
2 Working around the outside of the wreath, lay a feather flat in the same direction as the fur and secure by oversewing around the centre of the quill and through the faux fur background. Lay a second feather over the first so the top half of the second feather covers the stitch around the first. Oversew around the centre of the second feather and the lower half of the first. Add a third feather in the same way and oversew around all three.
3 Continue adding feathers around the outside of the wreath in this way to build up an overlapping layer that allows the end of each feather to gently radiate out from the ring. Start stitching a second ring of feathers inside the first in the same way. Any gaps in the feathers will be disguised by the faux fur background.
4 Cover the whole of the wreath with concentric rings of feathers all laying in the same direction. When complete, stitch a loop of ribbon or twine to the reverse of the wreath to hang.
