Create Your Own Self Help Spellbook: 6 Super Easy Spells Every White Witch Needs To Know

Much like a chef will log his tastiest dishes, build your own recipe book of spells consisting of carefully-picked rituals so you have your own magical tool book to support you on your life path. Patricia Weston has pulled together 6 super easy rites to give you a solid start
1 Boost your energy
What you’ll need: a quiet space, calming incense and a candle
Sit comfortably in the centre of the room, and bring you focus to your breathing. After a few minutes, harmonise your elements. Summon Earth from the north to connect to your energy. Earth governs your relationship to this material world and keeps you grounded. Call the element of air – your intellect, thinking and communication skills – from the east.
Next, order fire – your courage, strength and dynamism – from the south, and water – your emotions, intuition and healing balance – from the west.
Finally, focus on your connection to the divine; request the heavens to pour white light into your body, from the top of your head all the way through to your feet. To finish, summon Archangel Metatron to surround you in his platinum shield of protection. You will feel such a wonderful, positive lift after you perform this visualisation.
2 Dispel all fear
What you’ll need: a balloon, a black candle, a white ribbon
Pick a balloon in a colour you feel drawn to, as you blow it up visualise it filling with your fears, then write them all down along the white ribbon. Tie the ribbon to the end of the balloon, go outside and release the balloon into the sky – just let it go, let it blow away, and release all your fears with it.
Call to the element of the air as your release your balloon, saying: ‘Air up high take away these fears, release them, destroy them, let them evaporate away for the highest good of all. Blessed be’. Afterwards, back at home, light the black candle and feel it soak up any residual fears you may have. Let it burn down completely, taking your concerns with it.
3 Love the skin you’re in
What you’ll need: The Star tarot card, a white candle, loose tea or lavender herb, jasmine or rose oil
Allow yourself to relax and clear your mind. Place the tarot card on a clean, clear surface. Anoint the candle with the oil and sprinkle the herb around it in a clockwise direction. Meditate on the card for a while; let your gaze soften as you allow the energy of this beautiful image to merge with your subconscious mind.
The Star is an optimistic, balanced, calm and healing card; it indicates success and achievement, and invokes a feeling of confidence and increased self-esteem. The figure in the card is naked outside, she is at one with her surroundings, the Universe and herself. When the candle has safely burned down, sprinkle the herbs outside and place The Star under your pillow overnight to further connect with its energies.
4 Spark your creativity
What you’ll need: Ace of Wands tarot card from a tarot deck, an orange candle, carnelian or a orange agate crystal
On your altar, or a clear space, place the tarot card beside the orange candle and crystal. Light the wick and visualise a beautiful orange glow swirling in your sacral chakra (located in the pelvic area, just below the navel), which governs creative vibrations.
The Ace of Wands represents exciting and creative new beginnings; sit and connect with it for a few moments, allowing it to merge with your subconscious mind. Once the candle has burnt down, place the card under your pillow that night and pop the treasure in your purse, so you can carry it with you to keep the spell’s request alive.
5 Soothe heartbreak
What you’ll need: a pink candle; jasmine, lavender or rose oil; rose quartz or a green crystal
This spell is best cast on a Friday as it’s a day ruled by the loving and beautiful Venus. Anoint the candle with the oil, then sprinkle rose petals in a clockwise direction around it and place the rose quartz to the west.
Call on Archangel Chamuel as you light the candle, and say: ‘Chamuel, I implore thee. Fill me with your loving light, heal my heart this very night, for the highest good of all. Blessed be’. After the candle has burnt down, carry the crystal with you to maintain your connection with Chamuel and continue the healing. You can also sprinkle the rose petals from the spell into soothing bath, as you release burdening emotions.
6 Attract abundance
What you’ll need: a green candle (though a tea light will suffice), patchouli or basil oil, cinnamon
Anoint the candle with the oil by placing some on your finger, then rubbing it in in a clockwise direction. Sprinkle a little cinnamon on top, then light the wick as you chant: ‘Money, money come to me, with respect to share with glee. In it comes, out it goes, around the world it flows. With plenty put by for contingency and plenty put by for savings and glee. For the highest good of all. Blessed be’.
