Cast a circle
“Invoking the elements can help create a delicate balance of energies within and around you. A simple yet powerful way of working with the four elements during your daily mindful practices is to cast an elemental circle. Firstly, you’ll want to create your circle in a private place where you won’t be disturbed, you may wish to do this outside amongst nature. You will then need to find North. This can be done in a variety of ways, either with a compass or mobile app or using natural light and shadow methods. Next, you’ll want to place the following objects at each of the four quarters of your circle, making sure they are facing the directions they represent, ensuring this space is large enough for you to stand or sit in the centre.
North: An earthy coloured crystal of your choosing, I like to use malachite (Earth)
East: A white or yellow candle or a feather (Air)
South: A red candle (Fire)
West: A Seashell or small bowl of water (Water)
“Start with North and work in order through to West, calling upon each element to offer you their unique gift of strength. As you invite each element to share their energies with you, envision yourself channelling each element through your body – feel the earth beneath your feet, a gentle breeze across your face, the warmth of a fire, the scent of salty sea air. Finish the practice by thanking each element before closing your circle.”

Ground and centre
Katherine Genet, an Author, Druid and Spiritworker (Instagram and Facebook @KatherineGenet), says:
“There are many ways that we can ground and centre ourselves, but one of the most effective ways is working with the four elements. Give it a try!
“Earth is grounding and soothing. To channel this energy, imagine yourself as a tree. Send down your roots, strong and steady. Relax into it, feeling yourself grow as calm and stoic as a tree.
“Water cleans, clears and flows, purifying any stagnant energies. It not only leaves you physically cleansed, but energetically too – use this to your advantage! Affirm, ‘I wash away that which is unneeded’.
“Stand outside in good wind and spread your arms wide. Feel the cobwebs from deep inside you clearing, blowing any troubles away. Become literally your own breath of fresh air.
“Light a candle and visualise the flame within yourself, burning away the unwanted energy, reigniting your passions and desires, leaving you energised and revived.
