Holding
Take three mindful breaths as you hold the crystal or look at the photograph of a crystal. The intention is not to ‘zone out’, but rather to become more present. ‘Palm stones’ – flat, rounded shapes – are specially made to facilitate this way of using your crystal and are often known as ‘worry stones’, although ‘anti-worry’ would be a better description. Crystal gazing
If your crystal is clear, and especially if it has planes and occlusions, you can use it to ‘crystal gaze’. To do this, hold the crystal or place it at eye level in front of you. Allow your eyes to go into soft focus and gently scan the crystal until they naturally come to rest. Continue gazing into the crystal until your mind clears, your breathing slows and you relax, fully present in the moment. This method works well with crystals such as Labradorite, Selenite, Anandalite, Amethyst or Malachite.
Wearing crystals
Wearing your crystal means that its energy is constantly radiated into your personal energy field, bringing it into harmony. Crystals are particularly effective worn over the thymus gland, about a hand’s breath below your throat, as this is said to connect to your physical and subtle immune systems. Try placing a crystal in a metal spiral and stringing it around your neck, or wearing one set in silver as a pendant. A bracelet of crystals or stone chips also works well. Bear in mind a crystal may be most effective when it actually touches your skin.
