1 Clean your cards
Keep a clear quartz on top of your deck, smudge your cards with sage or Palo Santo or simply express an intention to remove any negativity surrounding the cards. This can be thought or said out loud.
2 Shuffle the cards
When mixing the cards, keep your question or intention in the forefront of your mind. I like to say my question out loud to my guides and the cards so they are clear on what I am seeking from the reading. If a card happens to fall out when you are shuffling, keep it out. This card will have a message for you.
3 Pick your card
Which card calls to you? Either fan the cards and pick one, cut the deck in half with your left hand (your receiving hand) and select a card, or pick one that might have dropped out.
4 Read your message
Let the message and imagery land with you. Think about what it sings about for you, the mood, emotion, deeper meaning, and intention of the card(s). Don’t be afraid to let your intuition reacquaint you with stories, folklore, myths or legends you grew up with and allow it to spark your imagination.
5 Carry your card
Keep your card by your side for the day and use it as a reminder. Tuck it into your handbag or place it on the fridge for the day. I like to pull a card in the morning and keep it on my night stand, then use it as a point of reflection before I go to sleep.
