Getting up close to your other half’s feet might not feel like the most romantic thing to do – but what if their toes could tell you secrets about your life together? Pull those socks off and start discovering…
What is foot reading?
Foot reading or ‘podomamcy’ has been practised in China and India for over six thousand years, and was mentioned in India’s oldest mythological poem, Ramayan. Foot reading has made something of a comeback in recent years, as many are rediscovering its mystical roots. Your feet contain thousands of reflexes that relate to almost every other part of your body. Some say your mind and body are inextricably linked, your physical state will naturally affect aspects of your emotional character. Just think about how you walk when you feel happy, angry or sad. Different emotions affect your physical body, and your feet take the brunt of it.
1 BIG TOE
If your big toe is longer than your others, you are creative and blessed with a wonderful imagination. You are never short of ideas and love to discuss new plans. However, actually ‘doing’ the things you talk and think about is a different matter. A comparatively small big toe shows a practical, sensible person who follows up on what they say. They meet their targets and goals, but they find it hard to visualise. If your partner’s big toe stands apart from the rest, this shows someone who needs time to share their innermost thoughts and feelings with the outside world – they don’t like feeling badgered into making emotional declarations.
2 SECOND TOE
Look at your and your partner’s second toes. A person with a comparatively long second toe likes to feel in control. If your partner’s second toe is bent towards the big toe, it means they still hang on to the past – maybe not even consciously. A little ‘snap out of it’ reality check from you now and then will bring them back to planet Earth.
3 MIDDLE TOE
If your partner’s middle toe turns a little to the right (towards their little toe), they are honest and forthright. They need to be listened to and hate being ignored. They can be annoyed by those who drift off mid-conversation. If their toe turns a little to the left, they can be emotionally demanding or needy, but tend to cover this up with bravado.
4 FOURTH TOE
This toe is the one most associated with relationships. If you ask your partner to talk about someone who means a lot to them, their fourth toe can twitch involuntarily (handy if you want to know whether or not they still have feelings for their ex!)
5 LITTLE TOE
Can you wiggle your little toe? The toe wiggler in your relationship is the flirty charmer who isn’t the type for settling down. The person who can’t separate their little toe is loyal, steady and cautious. If your little toe is squeezed under the toes next to it, you find it hard to trust and let go. But if your little toes are slightly to the side of the foot, you’re rebellious and unconventional.
6 WIDE FEET
Busy people usually have broad feet. But these types can also be a little frightened to stop and reflect. If you and your partner both have wide feet, you probably concentrate more on what you can achieve together rather than delving into each other’s emotional states.
7 NARROW FEET
If you both have narrow feet, you prefer to think rather than get involved with any donkey work. People with narrow feet have an eye for beauty and wonderful taste. Narrow-footed couples usually have beautiful homes and similar artistic tastes. If one of you has wide feet and the other narrow, you may have very different interests, but you really need each other to feel whole
8 SQUARE FOOT
If the length of your toes are quite similar, you have a square foot – (essentially, you could draw a line from the top of your big toe to your little one and have most of your toes in line.) Also known as ‘peasant foot’, this shows someone who finds it difficult to make decisions and endlessly ponders or worries over the smallest things. Although scrupulously fair and balanced, if your partner has square feet they may appreciate someone strong and decisive, as it takes the burden off of them.
9 SMALL AND LARGE FEET
If your partner has little feet, they are outgoing, hectic and full of fun. Small-footed people can be easily hurt, but they are resilient and able to recover and move forwards once again. Large footed types are good at making money and have sound business acumen. A small foot/big foot couple may bicker, but there’s never any real malice involved.
10 CROOKED TOES
Bent toes on your partner means they are quietly pig-headed and ambitious. They may agree with you to keep the peace, but inside they have already made up their mind and wild horses won’t pull them away from their decision.
