Our experts answer your questions on all-thing crystals…
Q: I have just started getting in to placing crystals around the house. What would you say is the best crystal to banish negative energy?
Firstly, it depends on the type of negative energy. For electromagnetic fog (EMFs) and geopathic stress, I love Shungite. A Shungite pyramid next to your router, television and microwave works wonders for neutralising this type of energy. For other types of negative energy, I first like to smudge with sage or frankincense. Then I grid my home with Black Tourmaline and Selenite in the four corners, which I like to think of as my guardian angels, and my protective shield for my home. If you do not have Black Tourmaline, try Smoky Quartz or Black Obsidian, which is also great for banishing negativity. Obsidian in your hallway transmutes negative energy from people that pass through!
To keep the energy vibrations high in your home, try placing a nice cluster of Amethyst or Celestite in your main living area. Creating a grid with the intention of clearing negativity and protecting your home is another favourite of mine. Crystal grids are a powerful energy tool when manifesting your goals, dreams and desires. The difference between using individual stones and a crystal grid is that the power of a grid comes from the union of energies created between stones, sacred geometry and your intention. Good luck! Q: I am always stressed at work – what would be the best stone to keep on my desk for positive vibes and stress relief?
Stress at work can be caused by many differing factors such as bad lighting, bad posture in your working position, overworking, work colleagues, or often just the repetitive mundane system in which you work. The best overall crystal to help with most of these problems is Blue Lace Agate – its beautiful striped pattern of light blue lines within give off a natural calming and cooling nature, bringing with it a peace of mind that will then allow you to look at your task more rationally. Blue Lace Agate will neutralise any built up anger and allow you to see things in a rational way. Often, stress brings with it built-up tension within the body – most often in the chest, neck, head and shoulders. Blue Lace Agate is one of the best crystals to open the throat chakra and release that tension. It does this by linking your thoughts to its spiritual vibration, which in turn brings you to a state of deep peace within. A raw chunk of Blue Lace Agate will be a great calming crystal to have on your desk, it can also double as a paperweight, which will allow you to connect with it regularly during your day at work. Once your stone has dissolved your stress it will go on to help you by allowing you to better understand life’s experiences, bringing spiritual maturity and inner positivity which you can then spread to your colleagues. Q: I’ve felt really drawn to Black Tourmaline recently… what could this mean and what benefits can I expect from the stone?
Your inner voice is telling you that you need this stone right now, allowing you to benefit from its crystal qualities. Black Tourmaline is a very protective stone. It naturally repels any negative energy that may be being directed at you either intentionally or unintentionally. If you’re a sensitive person and someone close to you is in a bad mood, angry or has other negative issues, you are quite likely to absorb their negative energy into your aura. This in turn could alter your mood, making you feel drained of energy. Black Tourmaline will help stop this from happening. It also helps energise the root chakra and alleviates stress and anxiety. If you use your mobile telephone quite a lot or other computer equipment that emits positive ions, then this lovely stone will help block the electromagnetic smog. An easy way to do this is to tape a small piece to your mobile phone or computer. Finally, this stone can help you face your fears, especially if you have a fear of the dark. GAYNOR MENTIPLY
