Not only are they beautiful and intriguing to look at, crystals are powerful tools for healing, each carrying their own unique properties and vibration. This vibration results from the colour frequency, chemical composition, inner atomic structure and outer form of the gemstone. It is this vibration that can alter electromagnetic waves for medical machinery, powers quartz watches, and responds to the electricity that runs through our bodies. If our energy is sluggish, for example, the constant electrical vibrations of the crystals can help to balance us again.
As well as transmitting vibrations, crystals are also effective absorbers of energy, which is why they must be regularly cleansed and re-charged to restore their vibrancy and vitality.
There are various techniques you can use when choosing crystals, but my advice is to select just one or two at a time; this way, you have a chance to really get to know your stones. Visit a shop or crystal supplier so you can physically see and experience the stones first hand. Here are a few ideas to assist you in your selection process…
- By visual appearance. Do any crystals immediately ‘call out’ to you when you look at them? Maybe you find them really beautiful, magical and mysterious, or perhaps they stir up a certain feeling within you. Equally, if you are repulsed by the appearance of a stone, then this also holds an important lesson for you.
- By sensing the energy. When running your hand above the crystals or holding them, do you pick up any feelings in your palm, or receive sensations in any other parts of your body? A ‘gut feeling’ maybe? A shiver, perhaps? Itching or tingling? If so, this could well be the one for you.
- By dowsing. If you have a dowser, hold it above the individual crystals and ask whether this is the stone you need. I find that the one/s that I need to select will cause the dowser to make large clockwise circles.
Above all, trust your intuition – it will serve you well. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or help in choosing crystals.
