Find out who in Hollywood’s elite loves gemstones as much as we do…
One of pop’s biggest icons, Lady Gaga uploaded a photo of herself in bed to her Instagram with what appeared to be a large Amethyst crystal. In 2013, performance artist Marina Abramovic instructed Gaga on the Abramovic Method – a series of exercises that involves meditation with crystals to heighten awareness.
Pretty Little Liars actress Lucy Hale is deeply in touch with her spiritual side, and has a penchant for February’s birthstone, Amethyst. “I practice reiki with this woman − I think it’s amazing and that it truly works. Anyway, she was going to a crystal fair that they have, and she picked up these gorgeous Amethyst stones for my house. Basically, Amethyst is the most positive stone that there is, so if you put it in your house, it’s supposed to generate good energy.”
Romcom staple Kate Hudson is clearly a true romantic off-screen as well as on-screen, as she carries Rose Quartz around with her, given to her by mother Goldie Hawn. “I have a crystal my mum gave me for Christmas years ago and I take it everywhere with me. She’s really into energy and stones. It’s a heart-shaped Rose Quartz and represents love.”
During a Twitter Q&A, the Australian beauty revealed to keeping crystals both in and out of her home, “At the front of my home, in the garden, is a huge piece of Clear Quartz. I have Amethyst geodes by my meditation/yoga room and large Rose Quartz gemstones throughout my back garden. I also carry a Clear and Rose Quartz chakra wand in my handbag (pictured). Rose Quartz is said to be the stone of unconditional love. This crystal opens the heart chakra and is believed to encourage self-love and forgiveness. It helps you let go of anger, resentment, and jealousy.”
Iconic supermodel and fashionista Naomi Campbell finds solace in gemstones and makes sure to keep them with her on her travels. “I couldn’t even start to tell you how many crystals I have. I keep a Black Tourmaline and a Rose Quartz in my bag, always. They signify protection and love, which is nice to have with you when you’re traveling around the world every two seconds − not that I’m complaining! And then I bring others in my luggage.”
Our favourite ballad belter Adele found the joy of crystals last year when it came to performing. “I was so nervous about my comeback show and I was panicking. I was out of practice and I was busy being a mum. But it was one of the best shows I’d ever done and I had these crystals in my hand… then the Grammys came and I lost my crystals! I had a gig two or three days before them and I think I left them at this venue. It turned out to be the worst, most disastrous performance that I have ever done. But I got some new crystals now and everything’s been going well!”
Last year, Posh Spice herself revealed that she carries a skull-shaped Black Obsidian crystal with her at all times. “It’s for protection and strength. I’m really into crystals. I’m a real positive thinker. I believe in creative visualisation – the glass is always half full. I have no time for anything negative. I bought crystals for all my team, so they carry them too.”
